0:01
Hi everybody and welcome back to Excel
0:03
Wiz. In today's video, I'm going to show
0:05
you how to pull data from the web into
0:08
Excel just like the data you see here
0:11
that is being that is displayed on table
0:13
format. So let's get started.
0:18
So the first step you need to go to your
0:22
web browser and make sure you've got the
0:24
page in which your data is. For example,
0:27
I'm looking at ship bankering prices in
0:31
Fujiraa. So I have this page open. So go
0:35
and open your Excel sheet. Click on
0:41
Click on data. Under data under get and
0:45
transform data, click on
0:49
import data from web page. Click on
1:05
So, a popup will appear asking for the
1:08
URL. So, go back to your web browser and
1:15
back into Excel and paste it.
1:19
Once you've done that, click on okay.
1:31
So don't worry, it takes a a couple of
1:34
minutes to connect. So it's connecting
1:37
uh your data to Power Query.
1:48
So once that's done, our power query
2:18
As you can see, it took uh some time
2:20
because there are a lot of tables on
2:22
that uh web page. So, as you can see, we
2:26
have table one, table two, all the way
2:28
to table 9 as well as latest prices
2:32
all the way down. So, you can click on
2:37
Let's click on the latest prices V L
2:41
SFO. So as you can see if you click on
2:44
the web view it's going to show you if
2:46
you're on the right page which we are.
2:48
So back on the table view
2:52
uh the first latest prices V LSFO.
2:55
This is what um I need. So if you need
2:59
to change something about the data,
3:01
something you don't need, you can click
3:14
Once you click on transform, uh your
3:16
power query editor is going to be opened
3:21
for you to make some changes.
3:32
So this is how the power query editor
3:35
is. It's taking uh some time because we
3:39
are dealing with a big data set.
3:43
So this is how we have. So if you need
3:46
to change the headers, if you need to
3:48
change the information down here, you
3:50
can do that. But for this uh particular
3:55
uh let's close it up and see
4:28
So your data is going to be loaded on
4:34
If you are not going to transform the
4:36
data, you could have just clicked on the
4:38
load and that's it. Uh it would bring
4:43
So give it a couple of minutes and your
4:50
placed on your worksheet.
5:05
So as you can see your data now is here.
5:08
it has been fully scrapped from the web
5:11
and directly into your into your Excel
5:14
sheet. So just remember that for all the
5:16
data that you need to get from your web
5:19
has to be in a in a table format for you
5:22
to be able to scrap it into exam.
5:25
Otherwise if your data is not in a table
5:28
format you can use passhub to be able to
5:31
scrap the data into your worksheet.
5:33
Please let me know if you want me to
5:36
create a different video showing you how
5:38
you can pull data from the web into
5:41
Excel by the use of pass if your data is
5:44
not in a table format. Otherwise, thank
5:47
as usual, thank you for watching and see
5:49
you again in the next video. Goodbye.
