Steps to follow to keep one row in Excel on top
You can use this method to freeze the top row in your Excel workbook. Take note that this method does not only freeze the first visible row. It can also be used to freeze multiple rows or columns, or even any row within your column that you want to be fixed as you scroll through the workbook.
1. In an open Excel worksheet, scroll through the worksheet and select the row that you wish to freeze. To do this, click on the row number to highlight the entire row.
2. Go to the main menu ribbon and click on the View
3. Find Windows group, then navigate and click on the drop-down
4. In the displayed list, click on the option Freeze Top Row.
5. You will notice the top row in your workbook is frozen (remains fixed) once you scroll down the worksheet. Excel will automatically insert a slim border line to show where the sticky row begins.
How to keep multiple rows in Excel
1. In an open Excel worksheet, scroll through the worksheet and select the rows that you wish to freeze. To do this, click on the row number to highlight the entire row. In case of multiple rows that follow each other use the Shift key. If you are dealing with scattered rows, use the Ctrl key to select them.
2. Go to the main menu ribbon and click on the View
3. In the Windows group, click on the drop-down icon.
4. In the displayed list, click on the option Freeze Panes.
5. You will notice the selected rows in your workbook are frozen (remain fixed) once you scroll through the worksheet. Excel will automatically insert a thin line to show where the frozen rows begin.
How to unfreeze rows
1. In an open Excel workbook, scroll through the worksheet and select the row that you want to unfreeze. To do this, click on the row number to highlight the entire row.
2. Go to the main menu ribbon and click on the View
3. In the Windows group, navigate and click on the drop-down icon next
4. In the displayed list, click on the option Unfreeze Panes.
5. You will notice that your previously frozen row is no longer locked as Excel will automatically unlock the row.
